99Acres In Strategic Tie-Up With Properazzi

By Nikhil Pahwa - Thu 13 Sep 2007 08:36 PM PST

99Acres, Naukri group’s real estate portal, has tied up with European real estate portal Properazzi, to offer users access to each others listings, reports Mint. Properazzi has 4 million real estate listings from across 49 countries. 99Acres claims that it has around 1500 builders, 20,000 brokers and 40,000 individual listings, with around 200,000 properties from around 100 cities.

Sharing of listings had better be a part of a long term plan - how many people in India search for property online anyway. Also, if the overall number of listings are currently at 61,500, then they seem to have declined marginally: during an earnings call a couple of months ago, Naukri MD Sanjeev Bikhchandani had said that 99Acres has 65,000 listings. He had also said that 99Acres and Jeevansathi (their matrimonial portal) together lost $1 million (around Rs. 4 crores) in the quarter. The market in India is still small, and it was hit by tightening credit in real estate and home loans, which must have worsened last month. Of the real estate portals, I think the Shaadi group did rather well by launching a generic like makaan.com. I wonder if they bought it in the secondary market…

Disclaimer: I have an inconsequential number of shares of Naukri

I think it’s a good deal for Nakuri to extend to European market

I am slightly confused what benefits a site like properazzi can bring to 99acres...visiting this site, it seems more like a europe-based site, and not really a NRI-specific property site....guess its more a PR news bit than getting any real benefits!
makaan seems to be shaping up quite well i wud say...atleast 3 people i know have finalized a deal through makaan in the last 2 days, and everyone has a very positive opinion of the site!
