ADD Bags Rights For Middle East And North Africa Markets

By Cerius Shah - Sun 06 Apr 2008 10:24 AM PST

Arab Digital Distribution (ADD is a platform management company in Middle East and North Africa, it runs ART- Premium Arabic Entertainment, Pehla - Premium Asian Entertainment and First Net - Premium International Entertainment) has announced a 10-year exclusive television coverage deal with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the UAE (amongst others, full list here) market. Any idea on who has parked rights for the US/CA/UK belt? The broadcast rights for India amounting to $918 million have been signed over to Sony (NYSE: SNE) Entertainment Television (SET) for five years, while another $108 million will need to be spent on marketing and promotions.

Cerius Adds: We had initially mis-interpreted the release stating the rights had been bought for $1.026 billion by ADD, apologies for the same, ADD has refused to comment

    Dude…

The ME deal is not for US$1.02 bn… they are referring to the overall TV rights sold to Sony-WSG when quoting the figure… the actual deal value has not been disclosed… please use some common sense man… why would someone pay US$1.02 bn for one set of rights when you can buy the whole she-bang for the same…

    best
    Amit
