As Publicis Looks To Acquire A Digital Agency In India, Who’s A Possible Target?

By Nikhil Pahwa - Sun 30 Sep 2007 10:11 PM PST

That global advertising group Publicis Groupe was looking for possible digital acquisitions in India has been known since January. In India, they’ve already acquired Delhi based advertising agency Capital advertising. ET reports that Publicis Worldwide COO Richard Pinder was in India last week, meeting potential candidates for acquiring in the digital space. He’s declined to divulge the names of the agencies they’ve met, but you can tell us in the comments, right? Which are the main digital agencies in India - Interactive Avenues (Sequoia funded), Connecturf, Webchutney, Quasar, Media2Win, bcwebwise and Pinstorm?

The WPP Group is also on the lookout for agencies to acquire in India, but had said that the presence of VCs makes acquisition difficult in India, since they raise the stakes. Apart from Group M, most mainstream agencies - Mudra, Lintas, Neo@Ogilvy, Tribal DDB and others - are better at creative than online implementation, while it appears to be the opposite for digital agencies, barring perhaps WebChutney. So usually, the mainstream agencies tie-up with the digital agencies for implementation.
