Bollywood, Education Take Front Seat For MSN India

By Anupama Chandrasekaran - Sun 14 Oct 2007 09:20 PM PST

Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) India’s Country Manager Jaspreet Bindra doesn’t foresee MSN being the best horizontal portaI, according to this agencyfaqs interview.

Bindra sees Bollywood and education being a focus. Agencyfaqs quotes Bindra as saying, “Bollywood is big and it’s a long struggle, but we believe that over the next two-three years, we will become the Bollywood place.” MSN India also plans to keep upgrading the education content on the site.

With respect to the mobile space, Bindra admits that they are still trying to figure out a way to adapt available content for the handset screens and of course. The problem of not making enough money in the mobile business is also an issue, “The issue is that besides the operators, no one is making money. No one has cracked the business model –- what kind of advertising, how and when to use it? – and 500 people have tried it,” Bindra says. “Hopefully, we will know what’s the right thing to do.”
