NDTV Convergence Launches NdtvArabia.tv, UAE Specific Short Code

By Cerius Shah - Wed 26 Mar 2008 12:51 PM PST

NDTV Arabia, the India centric Middle East channel launched in April 2007, has got itself a website, NDTVArabia.tv. Sanjay Trehan is quoted by E4M as stating they will promote the website through the channel. They have also launched a UAE specific shortcode(6388) service for stock/ news/cricket/movie updates. The service is priced at Dhs 4 per sms (Approx Rs 40 per sms)

Most of the India centric content is gleaned from NDTV.com, while the international content is being powered by newswires. Not too sure how this will help add value to the UAE based user who already has the option to consume NDTV’s coverage on the web from NDTV.com vis-a-vis NDTVArabia.tv

Nikhil adds: The Forums are on NDTV.com, while this hot debate doesn’t load. The site has live streaming of the channel, and video content. The primary difference appears to be editorial selection of content that’s displayed on the front page. I couldn’t get the ”who-is” for NDTVArabia.com, but it’s apparently ”parked”.

i caught ndtv arabia in dubai and from what i could tell the the content for ndtv arabia appears to be different from what you see in india, esp the news clips.  dunno if they have a special half hour clip on news since it looked way different from their news clips in india. however they need to work on their audio quality (it is too loud).

Another crappy website from the ndtv stable. same ndtv.com content repackaged in a new template. Nothing new. Convergence has been launching such substandard products since some time now. Instead they should focus on making their existing properties better.
