TV Roundup:Zodiak TV Eyes 35% Stake In Sol, BBC To Launch Web Site For Intl Consumers, Zoom Revamps

By Anupama Chandrasekaran - Tue 09 Oct 2007 08:03 PM PST

-- Indiantelevision.com reports Denmark-based Zodiak Television has agreed to acquire 35 per cent stake in Indian production house Sol. Under the agreement, Zodiak Television World, the distribution arm of Zodiak Television Group, will licence and distribute Sol’s programming internationally, excluding India. Although the article didn’t mention it, I would be surprised if the deal didn’t include Internet plans as part of the distribution deal.

-- BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), has decided to launch its DVDs in India, probably through a tie up with music company Saregama and has plans of launching its new website for international markets.

BBC.com and video clip service, Kangaroo, would be advertiser-funded and will soon cater to international consumers as well.

-- Entertainment-focused channel ZoomTV has revamped its Web site to offer clippings from its shows to visitors, according to this Indiantelevision.com report.

Zoom, which is already available on mobile via IdeaTV, also plans to expand its content packages through mobile platforms.
