It will now be renamed Cybermedia Careers, with Gupta and Cybermedia as key stakeholders. [via release]

We haven’t head anything about Cybermedia Dice since it reported an operating loss of Rs. 1.4 crores for the half year ending Septemer 30, 2006. In fact, even details of Cybermedia’s online segment haven’t been available since the restructuring of Cybermedia’s business into three segments: Print Publishing, Online and life sciences, and Cybermedia Services Group.

Was this over some dispute ? Why did Dice abruptly sell of it’s stake when the website clearly was popular with Technology job-seekers

I think, Gupta has aggressive plans to make CyberMediaDice a profitable portal. Hence they are in need of big money and Dice is not interested in investing in this venture any more. So, Dice has sold out.

And, because Cybermedia do not have control over the product, they are facing too many problems in making the product Indian Industry Centric.

With this stake take over, they got rid of those problems. Now, CMD has to concentrate on executing Mr.Gupta’s vision properly.

Hi Srini, I dont think its anything as positive as you are making it sound. Its simply that it wasnt taking off as it was predicted to do with so many job portals around. So dice wanted out. It had come to the table with all wrong expectations. Cybermedia s online venture CIOL isnt doing amazing either. But under PG, everything ultimately gets handled and managed. I think he is one guy who is the most brilliant human being I have ever met. The most down to earth person. His core group of people have been with him for long tenures. He has a reputation of never ever asking anyone to leave the organisation. This rock solid reputation of his will take the org through everything.
