Disney To Increase Stake in UTV; Announcement Monday

Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS), which has been a 15 percent stake holder in Indian TV company UTV, is going to announce an increase in its stake this Monday. The announcement will come at a press conference in Mumbai on Monday morning, with executives from both sides present, including Ronnie Screwvala, CEO of UTV. The stake could be doubled with this announcement. The deal, according to Business Standard, is estimated at around Rs 1,300 crores.

In 2006, Walt Disney bought out UTV’s kids channel Hungama.
