Indiantelevision reports that car manufacturer Maruti has signed a deal to be the main sponsor for the official Cricket website cricketworldcup.com, which is being run by STAR India’s Indya.com. The report, quoting “sources close to the developments” states that Maruti has paid around $1 million (Rs. 4.5 crores) for most of the site, though no comments are forthcoming from STAR India officials. More here.
I just checked and, sure enough, Maruti’s got a top banner on the front page, a shoshkele (which makes some content inaccessible, when using Firefox), and a banner on the sidebar.
