Indya.com Launches Broadband Portal For NRIs; Download-To-Own For $0.99 An Episode

Indya.com, the internet portal of the STAR Group, has launched its digital entertainment on-demand online service—indyaondemand.com - for the NRI audiences. The service is available worldwide and is targeted at broadband-enabled South Asian audiences in the U.S., U.K., Canada and South East Asia, a release said.
At launch, content from across the STAR network including popular “K-Serial” “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii,” “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” and “Koffee With Karan” are available for download from the internet. It also has Indian documentaries, and music videos available online, while more content like Bollywood movies and regional language content will be added to the mix.
The new service is offered via a “download-to-own” model, and the purchased content can be played on portable players too, besides PC. Single episodes are now available for free on a trial basis. Additional episodes are priced starting from $0.99, although special discounts are available for bundle purchases, a release said. Indya.com has hired US-based Elephant Advertising, a subsidiary of CineMaya Media Group, for advertising the service in North America.
