Internet Usage Jumps 27% Reports ComScore

More than 28 million people in India aged 15 and older accessed the internet from home and work in May. This represents a 27% increase over last year. Do note this report excludes traffic from public computers, including cybercafes as well as acces from mobiles/PDAs. More on the methodology can be found here. Some findings from the release below:
—The average Indian Internet user visited the Internet 25 times during the month and was online for 28 minutes per visit.
-- Those between the ages of 15-24 were the heaviest Internet users among all age segments, spending nearly 12 hours online per month on average.
-- Some of the fastest growing Web site categories during the past year included Maps (up 64%), Sports (up 60%), Entertainment—Movies (up 55%), and Finance—News/Research (up 52%).
-- Internet peneteration stands at just 3% of the total population.

Google (NSDQ: GOOG) properties reigned supreme with nearly 20 million visitors in May, growing an average 35% over last year.
-- Google Search had 17.1 million visitors (+38%)
-- Youtube drew 6.3 million visitors (+131%)
-- Orkut attracted 9.3 million visitors (+39%)
-- Blogger drew 7.3 million visitors. (102%)
