IOL Broadband Expands Deal With MTNL To Offer VoIP Services

By Nikhil Pahwa - Wed 28 Nov 2007 11:31 PM PST

IOL Broadband, which provides IPTV content to public sector telcos MTNL and BSNL, has expanded its deal with MTNL to include Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. MTNL also has a tie-up with Aksh Optifibre for VoIP services, and BSNL has plans for VoIP as well. IOL Broadband is planning a capacity of 100 million minutes, which will be expanded to 1 billion minutes in two years time, and is also pushing video phones to broadband subs for teleconferencing, reports the Hindu. In January this year, IOL had raised Rs. 39 crores by means of a preferential allotment of shares to Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs). Prior to that, the company had received Rs 5 crore in investment from Bennet, Coleman & Co (BCCL) and Rs.7 crore from Maula Trading Co.

IOL broadband once gave wave of getting India broadband to new level but i suppose that just a false promise to get their stock prices up. Eventually they did succeed. But now i know the truth IOL is going to be like other broadband service provider in India. BlogsDNA
