Jagran Prakashan, the Hindi language media group head quartered in Kanpur, has found a slick name for its mobile value added services arm. Agencyfaqs reports that the division is christened J9. The company already owns short code 7272.
The VAS division - headed by Rajeev Dhal - is also on a ramp up mode as it has made several key appointments for the digital business. Shekhar Suman, formerly with Indiatimes, is the new technology head, for example. The report further says that J9 will have five verticals – digital content, text information services, contests, voice services and WAP. It’s also planning to launch a peer to peer exchange on mobile for buying and selling products. More details here.
