By Anupama Chandrasekaran - Thu 27 Sep 2007 12:14 AM PST

J9, the enterprise division of Jagran Prakashan (publishers of the daily ‘Dainik Jagran’), has launched a consumer shopping division called J9 Shop. [via agencyfaqs] Interested customers can place orders for J9 Shop products such as DVD players, home theatre systems and music players advertised in ‘Dainik Jagran’ through their call centre and SMS short code.

The company’s focus is the semi-urban and non-metro markets, which includes cities in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. All the products come with 100 per cent warranty and payments can be made through cash on delivery or credit card.

The company is expected to launch a shopping portal, http://www.j9shop.com, in a month’s time and also have offline retail outlets probably at Dainik Jagran’s classified booking centres.

It is good as long as it is confined to semi-urban markets but still doubt if this is gonna work out for the reason that spending on high end products without even seeing it pre-purchase and feeling it is practically difficult atleast for the consumers. Lets see.
