Launching paidContent:UK: Covering UK and Europe’s Digital Media Economy

By Rafat Ali - Mon 03 Sep 2007 09:34 PM PST

imageToday we’re launching paidContent:UK, our new UK news site. The focus is on the UK, and, to some extent, on Europe; like our other sites, paidContent:UK covers the economics of digital content, both online and mobile. We believe we are filling a big gap in the UK market, where most of the trade, newspapers and online pubs cover the media industry from either a marketing/agency filter (NMA, Brand Republic, Netimperative etc) or are too generalized (Media Guardian, Times and others). Our focus is on business intelligence for media/entertainment/information companies —in short, the content company’s perspective.

Expect our usual brand of original reporting, intelligent linking/aggregation, and analysis—quick, smart and sharp with a good dose of in-depth interviews. We’ll also host more regular mixers in London, and possibly conferences and seminars down the line.

As we announced last month, we’ve brought on Robert Andrews as our UK editor, and Ingrid Lunden as a contributing correspondent. On the business side, Raj Kotecha (rdkotecha AT contentnext.com) recently joined as our director of European sales and business development.

As usual, we offer multiple ways to read our news: through the site, the e-mail newsletter, RSS newsfeed, or the mobile site. (The newsletter will start with one Wednesday and go to two editions next week.) And don’t forget to send us any news/anonymous tips you have, through the tips box in the left column of any site page.

We’ll have a launch party on September 11, and I’ll be there, along with our UK staff. We’ll post the details—and open registration—Wednesday morning BST. If the past is any indication, we expect it to fill up fast so be ready.

This is the fourth news site in the ContentNext Media network, after paidContent.org, mocoNews.net and ContentSutra.com.

Our charter sponsors are: Zandan, Pluck, IMR Executive, Bango, Netsize, and JobThread.
