Mobile Entertainment Is 40-45 Percent Of Hungama’s India Business: Neeraj Roy

By Nikhil Pahwa - Thu 17 Jan 2008 01:58 AM PST

Some interesting data points from Hungama’s business from MD and CEO Neeraj Roy, in an interview with Mid-Day: Hungama currently currently distributes Bollywood content in 32 countries, and plan to expand distribution to 60 countries in 2008. They’re also considering mobile advertising, and sale of content via retailers. Mobile entertainment content is about 40% to 45% of Hungama’s business in India (note: not the overall business); Roy estimates that the overall mobile entertainment business overall is around Rs. 150 to 280 crores, and around Rs. 800 crores for the mobile operators. We’ve heard murmurs of an IPO for the company, but no confirmation or details yet. Hungama has increased its content portfolio beyond T-Series, but there’s never a comment on what percentage of the company’s revenues depends on that one content provider. In November, last year, the company had announced tie-ups with Paramount Digital Entertainment, Sony (NYSE: SNE) Pictures and Fashion TV.
