Rediff Adds Pixelkraft’s Online Sitcom To Ishare

By Nikhil Pahwa - Tue 15 Jan 2008 09:56 PM PST

More proprietary content making its way to Rediff’s (NSDQ: REDF) video content portal iShare; this time, by means of a tie-up with PixelKraft, which publishes an sitcom Ram and Ria. The comedy sitcom is about a cosmopolitan Mumbaikar (Ria), married to the quintessential South Indian (Ram), and the cultural differences. Each episode is around 2.5-3 minutes long, including a pre-roll and a post-roll. It can easily be ported to the mobile as a mobisode as well. The sitcoms main site currently has 15 episodes, which iShare has 13. However, on my 256kbps connection (remember, 2mbps is only for connections with data constraints), content on neither site streams without buffering. Nevertheless, this episode on iShare appears to have received 1978 views.

I wonder if there’s much user generated content on iShare...would be interesting to see them get users to create content - like Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and VH1 did with the ShotbyU series. You just have to go through the YouTube award winners (or even the nominees), to know there’s quality content out there, waiting to be discovered. Ishare currently has tie-ups with Zoom, Pixelkraft, IndiaTV, anEcho, Haryana TV. However, no separate page listing all their partners; content discover is via a column on the iShare index page, that lists 3 parters randomly (apparently), each time. Wish they’d do away with the pop-up adverts, though. [via release]
