Reliance ADAG To Launch News Site

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group is making an entry in the news media industry through a news portal that will eventually have the Big Internet brand name. [via Financial Express] The business paper quoted sources as saying that no subscription will be needed to access the site. The company has already started hiring staff for the venture. The news portal is expected to develop its own content that would be shared with the group’s telecom and entertainment businesses. Waits to be seen if the site will be a mouthpiece or will it report fairly on ADAG’s businesses. Moreover, with the current rush in India to start newspapers and other media outlets, ADAG’s news site should have a unique selling point to survive.
