Report: People Interactive Receives $12-13 Million From Goldman Sachs

By Nikhil Pahwa - Fri 23 Nov 2007 10:44 PM PST

People Interactive, the Shaadi.com group, has received $12-13 million from Goldman Sachs, reports VCCircle. The group, which owns the matrimonial portal Shaadi.com, social networking site Fropper.com, and the recently launched real estate classifieds Makaan.com, had earlier received $8 million in funding from Sequoia Capital India in 2006. The company was founded in 1997, and has mentioned plans for an IPO in early 2009. People Interactive accounts for two thirds of the groups revenues, which also includes a mobile value-added-services company - People Infocom, also known as Mauj Telecom. Interestingly, Mauj is not a part of this deal, though it had received $10 million from Sequoia Capital India in early 2006.
