Reuters Plans To Facilitate Trade Via Mobile; RML To Go Paid

By Nikhil Pahwa - Wed 03 Oct 2007 06:28 AM PST

We’ve written about the Reuters (NSDQ: RTRSY) Market Light (RML) before. Now, as per a release, Reuter’s is pleased with it’s pilot test in Maharashtra (they got 7500 signups), and are now planning to go paid with the service - charging Rs. 60 (around $1.5 per month). Let’s see how many drop out then. Currently the service offers weather forecast and market information. Interestingly, Reuters intends to take the next step and pilot a service that connects farmers with buyers and traders through their mobile phone...an m-choupal, perhaps? [via release]
