Sify Requests 15-Day Extension For Annual Report Submission To SEC

By Anupama Chandrasekaran - Tue 02 Oct 2007 07:50 PM PST

Sify Limited has filed for a fifteen day extension with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Comission related to the submission of its annual report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007.

The Internet, network management and e-commerce company’s request for an extension is due to the need for additional time to complete its financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis of financial condition and results of operations, according to the filing. Sify expects to file its Annual Report on Form 20-F prior to the expiration of the fifteen day extension.

Compliance to local government regulations like Clause 49, disclosure of financial statements etc are increasingly becoming stringent in India. Companies listed on the stock exchange overseas or in India have to adhere to these compliances for non-conformance which may lead to hefty fines to the tune of crores of rupees.

The delay maybe due to some inconsistencies.
