Time Broadband Looks Overseas: Forms Singapore JV With Stanton; Bollywood Content In Malaysia

By Nikhil Pahwa - Tue 11 Mar 2008 12:28 AM PST

With IPTV not having really taken off in India (yet), content aggregators are looking overseas for monetization: Time Broadband has signed an MOU with Malaysia’s Stanton Technologies to offer Bollywood entertainment and news content. Stanton has IPTV rights to D’Podcast services from mobile operator DiGi Telecommunications. They’ll be offering 120-150 video and audio podcasts and mobisodes, on-demand. I wonder if content providers have signed mobile rights over to Time Broadband, since sometimes these are sold separately from IPTV rights, and sometimes they’re just clubbed together as New Media rights.

The Star adds that Time Broadband has formed a 50:50 joint venture company with Stanton Technologies, called Stanton Time Broadband Pte Ltd in Singapore to offer technology and marketing of digital media solutions to telcos. Sujata Dev, MD of Time Broadband, told The Star that JV was in talks with Middle Eastern as well as local telcos to offer digital media delivery solutions...not surprising, since the Dubai Investment Group has 40 percent stake in Time Broadband, post restructuring. In India, they provide content to MTNL’s IPTV service.
