Turner Ropes In 3 Indian Production Houses For Animation Foray

By Anupama Chandrasekaran - Mon 18 Jun 2007 01:11 AM PST

U.S.-based Turner Entertainment Networks tied up with three Indian production houses - Miditech, Graphiti Multimedia and Famous Studios - to produce local CG animated feature films and television series, Indiantelevision.com reports. A Turner spokeswoman from Hong Kong confirmed to the Web site that the three Indian production houses “have been contracted for TV animated series as part of our Snaptoons initiative.” Snaptoons, or Short New Asia Pacific Cartoons, is a Turner initiative that invites animation ideas from artistes, poets and even individual animators. The Turner spokeswoman said the company was also “exploring the possibility of feature films,” but added there was “no contract yet for the movies.” Last week, Disney announced its partnership with Yash Raj Films to create Disney branded animated films.
