Ubisoft Acquires Gameloft’s Dev Center In Pune

By Nikhil Pahwa - Tue 15 Apr 2008 06:34 AM PST

Ubisoft, one of the worlds largest game developers has inked a deal to acquire Gameloft’s (EPA: GFT) development center in Pune. The dev centre has 120 developers and testers who will focus on porting games to various handheld devices. Ubisoft intends to increase the team strength to 200 in 12 months, and as many as 500 “in the coming years” as per the release. Looks like it will essentially be an outsourcing destination, and Ubisoft doesn’t mention any plans for India. The deal is expected to be closed during the first quarter of 2008-09.
