Virgin Comics Inks Deal With uclick For Mobile Distribution Of Comics

By Nikhil Pahwa - Tue 27 Mar 2007 06:54 AM PST

Four comics from the Virgin Comics, the company started by Deepak Chopra, Shekhar Kapur and Richard Branson, will be ported to the mobile - Ramayan 3392 AD, The Sadhu, Devi and Snake Woman. Virgin Comics has signed an agreement with uclick to distribute comic books and associated products in North America, UK, Australia and South Africa, to Sprint, Verizon and Cingular. Says Larry Lieberman, CMO of Virgin comics: “Virgin Comics is all about developing characters and stories that can easily make the jump from one form of media to another - that exist as well in comics as they grow to other media.” [via release]
The Virgin Comics graphic novels have been created in India - scripted by Indian writers around Indian themes. I wonder when they’re planning to launch the series here. Geodesic has similar plans for Chandamama, and I’m wondering about what became of Coruscant’s tie-up with Anant Pai.
