Virgin Mobile Appoints Madhusudan Mandyam as CEO

By Cerius Shah - Thu 15 May 2008 09:08 AM PST

Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) India has appointed Madhusudan Mandyam as its CEO, reports Afaqs. Mandyam was earlier president of Tata Teleservices. Branson had earlier stated Virgin was open to alliances with other partners, will these change things considering the lineage of the CEO and that TTSL and Virgin are currently enjoying wedlock? The comment seems to have been made to allay operator fears at that time, I doubt Virgin will be going anywhere in the mid-long term. Mandyam believes Virgin will be able to acquire 10 percent of the youth market in three years. Previous coverage on our thoughts on the MVNO market and the TRAI consultation paper here
