Yahoo Launches OneSearch On SMS In India

By Nikhil Pahwa - Mon 22 Oct 2007 02:49 AM PST

Close to the heels of Google (NSDQ: GOOG) launching SMS based information services in India, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) has followed suit by announcing the launch of OneSearch SMS. Users can query the short code 58242 for the weather, stock prices, local business information (currently for 4 cities only) and news. The launch of the SMS service follows a few months after the launch of the GPRS based OneSearch service. I’m not sure if the SMS service is working right now. I just SMS’ed Dlf to 58242, and it’s supposed to return the stock quote. Been a couple of minutes, and nothing so far. Not that Google SMS is error free - check out the comments on our post on Google SMS[via release]

You should try sending something like pvr saket delhi to 58242, funny experience I had:
first you receive a reply from 58243, with a listing that contains no numbers, and a “reply m for more” footer.
I tried replying with m to both shortcodes 42 / 43, but it did nt work.
    flop.
