Bollywood Vs. Hollywood: Content Protection Is The Key

Business Standard: First some numbers: Bollywood churns out 1,000-odd films a year, while Hollywood makes a fifth that number. Bollywood takes home $1.2 billion annually, while Hollywood earns $51 billion.
Bollywood can actually make much more. But there is a problem. Piracy. But there are ways to tackle it. One is to adopt digital cinema on a mass scale which will help release a movie in, say, some 300 theatres, at the same time.
Second is to use other content protection solutions. So several international software solution providers like Nagra Vision, NDS and Irdeto are on an aggressive expansion in Indian market. They are tying up with broadcasters and content providers for content protection and also for identifying ways to extend their revenue earnings.
