Divya Bhaskar Group Editor In Chief Leaves To Focus On Specialized Content Creation

By Nikhil Pahwa - Thu 02 Nov 2006 11:17 PM PST

Agencyfaqs reports that Aakar Patel, Group Editor-in-Chief, ‘Divya Bhaskar’ has stepped down to focus on his own content venture - Hill Road Media. They’re already providing content for the ICC Champions Trophy website and indya.com, and will be focusing on customised content creation, contract publishing and offshore publishing. The core team includes the former editor of Sunday Mid-Day - Sushmita Sen, and Tapan Joshi and SK Sham who were earlier with Times of India and Reuters respectively. Says Patel: “As convergence of content is becoming the key driver, there is an opportunity for specialised content providers.”
A few months ago, I’d met a senior journalist who had run a similar venture for creating content. They went bust when the dot com bubble burst, but there’s no risk of that happening again. Or is there? Content outsourcing wasn’t as hot at that time, so maybe that will help such businesses survive on greater margins.
